About Me
Born in Dhaka in 1988, Siti Fatima discovered her passion for art from an early age — inspired by her father's unfulfilled dream of painting. She completed her BFA (Honors) and MFA from the Department of Drawing and Painting at the Faculty of Fine Arts, University of Dhaka.
Fatima's roots trace back to the Sylhet region, a place steeped in the songs and spiritual traditions of Sufi and Baul mystics. Over time, her artistic journey evolved into an exploration of Sufism and mysticism — seeking to translate their intangible essence into visual form.
Through her works, Fatima bridges the simplicity of the mystics' lives with the complexity of modern existence. Her paintings embody a profound spiritual dialogue — between the material and the divine, between the seen and the unseen.
My art is a visual reflection of inner spirituality — a quest to depict the unseen connections between the Creator and creation. Deeply inspired by Sufism and the mystic traditions of the Baul singers, my paintings are not mere representations, but contemplations of divine truth and human experience.
The Bauls' songs — rich with metaphors and allegories — have become a guiding force in my creative process. To me, painting is a meditative act — an attempt to hold onto the fleeting essence of enlightenment. Each piece is a spiritual experiment: an attempt to visualize the invisible, to make tangible the harmony between faith, philosophy, and the human condition.
